The National Student was present at the third annual Student Publication Association National Conference on 11th April as a sponsor and to offer advice to student journalists.
Founder of The National Student, and BigChoice Group Head of Communications James Thornhill has been involved since the first conference in 2013, and this year delivered to sessions throughout the day.
James led a debate session on the value of readership and content in the digital age, and also a talk on ‘How to run a successful independent publication’ before sharing the journalism opportunities on offer with The National Student for members of student media.
James joined other speakers from the likes of Journalism.co.uk, Brighton Journalist Works, Student Beans, Independent Voices and The Daily Mash to deliver a brilliant day of talks and discussions.
James said, “I am keen to support the SPA as much as we can moving forward, as it is so important to the development of student publications in the UK. This conference was the best one yet, with a brilliant range of speakers and the best student journalists helping each other out. I wish this association existed when I started The National Student.
“I will be in discussions with the new committee about how we can help the SPA grow and how we can increase the ways we work together in future.”
